Human nature is an ugly trait. The mean spirit comes naturally and while we learned to walk on two legs, we have still not learned a whole lot more. We have never learned to control our anger or feelings hence we have had more wars in the 20th century invloving more people than perhaps all the wars in history put together. Definitley not a legacy to be proud of but a legacy that can only continue.

Dreams.....the enemy of the average. Average folks are insulted and don't accept that the "Dream" is the seed of reality. The seed of their very existance. Somehow the "Dreamer" has become their enemy, atleast in the walls of their minds. It keeps them "In the box" and how dare others exceed those bounds. It leads directly to the FACT that you are a product of your enviornment. To sink to the level of that? NO WAY!! But to watch others swallowed up by the mindless......what a shame they themselves don't have the strength or backbone to fight it. So obediantly they follow as they get led through the darkness.

In the most exciting news, 10,000 of a new and popular website, has sprung up on the net in just the last few weeks. Estimates are that as many as 1,000,000 of these sites may be built before the end of next year.
Secondly the net took TWO unforseen turns this week that will show up in the first few days of January.
Thirdly the sale of business.com for $7.5 million reinforces the fact that $150k was a bargain of immense proportions

In an accelerated run for "Market share" .com companies are stumbling on themselves as they squander tens of millions of investor dollars to attract handfuls of surfers. History will show this to be the largest cost per customer ever spent to lure them to their websites that still can't take an order nor make a profit.
Reports say that some of the biggest names on the net will be consulting on Monday with the "Lemonade queen" to see how 6 year old Alice turns a profit. It is said she turned down stock from these companies and they are FORCED to pay cash for their lemonade purchases.

The first phase of the Internet marathon is about over. The CLEAR winners and losers are being defined. While much will happen on the internet in the years to come, never will it reach the level and fury as in 1999. The first plateau has been reached. Never have there been so many hopes, dreams and expectations. Never will so many fall short of their lofty goals. It is that reality that will make most of 2000 a lack luster year. A disappointment before it even begins. A receeding in the tide before it regains its' fury late in the year and early in 2001.

To be first? To be biggest? Amazon.com is both. I think Amazon will also be the first HUGE casualty on the internet sometime during the first half of next year as well. EARLY in the first half. Personally......I think they are lucky to survive Christmas 1999. I think their collapse is emminent and an annoncement in December is indeed still possible. The king has no clothes!
While defending amazon.com please keep in mind that anybody can sell $100 bills for $75 and do lots of business. It takes no talent at all. Add that to the fact that they can't tell you when or if they can take that same $100 and sell it for $150 or even $100 or even $99!!! Who is kidding who here?? This is the internet "Crash" that will wash the world according to Amazon away and they will be forced to start over. The fallout will be felt throughout the internet and will force EVERYONE and every investor to re-evaluate things.
I wonder how many other companies in history received TENS of BILLIONS of dollars of FREE advertising and could not use that to make a profit or even get to the point IF they will make a profit? Yes they have built a FABULOUS "Oil well"......unfortunately it is pumping nothing but mud and losses. You still got to love them because they have done so much for the progress and excitement level that there is today on the internet overall. Win, lose or draw......they are an integral part of internet history.
I suggest you watch NBC Nighly news tonite. I have already identified WHY they are not profitable and how easy it would be to fix it. This report may give you the reason why as well. The only clue......it is a SIMPLE modification that would save this river from drowning in it's own water.
amazon.bomb......never a better way to describe it and in a few days......the world will know.

The most friends I have ever made have come from the internet. Sitting behind a keyboard reveals more about a person and what makes them tick than any other single sense that I have ever used. While you can hide or mask true feelings with smiles in the real world, it is much harder to mask the written word and their intent.
The internet has taught me so much about human nature. While most think you are "Distant" on the internet......I see completely opposite as you are closer than ever before. I have seen kids blossom into real businessmen. I have seen jerks turn into assholes and everything in between. Seeing the entire spectrum of behaviors will serve me because......"You'll sell John Jones what John Jones buys when you see John Jones thru John Jones eyes".

No question that the good times are rolling but it was evident in this group that they are searching for MUCH more. Very evident that the FIRST part of the journey has ended and the next level is here.
Folks, That will be my last "Thought" for a while. I will make sporatic posts from now on as we wind our way through the holiday season. Be prepared for the unexpected over the next 31 days. While 1999 was no doubt a record year for many, 2000 will be as mean as 1999 was good.

To my friends at Netpond.
It has been over a month since I posted in your forum. I have done some soul searching and some analyzing along with some creative new projects. I have come to the conclusion that the boards as we know them and the chemistry that WAS there will never and can never happen again. Atleast in the adult business. Those dynamics that were present in 1997 are not present now nor will they again as we know it.
I see the boards, all adult boards, as nothing more than another AOL chatroom at this point in time. After 5 years on the net I don't think returning to an AOL chatroom is quite what I am looking for. While 1997 may be history in the adult world, 1997 is where the rest of the universe is coming into and "Time travel" is a wonderful thing if you know how to do it.
Netpond means business! That is usually a true statement but what I have seen over the month on the sidelines is "Mean business". I doubt I am the only one that sees that but I am the only one stupid enough to say it out loud. This business has turned into a "Mean business" and while part of that is to be expected, most of it is very disturbing. It is not the fault of Netpond officials. It is just evolution and the silent majority staying silent.
I have met some very good businessmen as well some morons and assholes over the years on the boards as well as in real life. The businessmen turned into friends and are keepers that I plan to know for a lifetime. The morons and assholes, which will be the only ones offended by this, made me realize how few and far between it is to find good friends and business associates.
I'll leave you with a final thought this year, century, millenium, life.
Do the "Right thing" at every turn in life. Let that be your "Moral compass" in every situation you encounter.
Don't worry about being right. There are a lot of people that were "Right" in cemetaries as a result of car accidents etc. So being right is not all that important. Matter of fact being right is not important at all when you talk survival.
What is important is doing it right and doing it right every time with every situation and treating other people right in the process. In my mind, I believe if you do something right and you do every step of it the right way.....the chances are good that the result will be right. No guaranteees......but the odds of your success go up exponentially. That automatically puts you in the top 5% of the people on the planet and that is a great starting point. That is enough to start EVERY day with a smile on your face, a can do attitude and to know how lucky you are to be doing what you are doing.
And if you prefer some advise from someone a little more tested, here are 3 quotes I heard recently from Bill Gates

3. "It's a gold rush" In regards to the .com explosion
In closing,
Here are a few of the accomplishments of this century. Perhaps you have lost focus of the fact that in 1900 we did not have airplanes to fly, TV to watch nor cars to drive. Imagine life today without those elements. Just a few of our modern conveniences and not even mentioning the computer, the internet, microwave ovens, cell phones, stereos, etc. When you consider the fact that before the 20th century man had never been higher than a few hundred feet above ground and in 1969 we landed on the moon, we've come a very long way. The most fantastic century in history is coming to an end. It's the century that progressed more than all other centuries put together. More inventions than all other centuries put together. More of almost everything, good and bad, occured in THIS century.
When you consider the fact that for thousands of years people have pointed to the moon and dreamed of going there and it was this century that it occurred is simply an amazing fact in and of itself. That alone would make this century stick out as much as the 15th century when Columbus discovered America. Then to add to that the computer and the Internet will guarantee that it was this century that will become the most remembered century ever. The events that occurred in the last 100 years are just overwhelming. Where would you even start?
